I’ve always dabbled with Cat Stevens music but over the last couple of years it really started to hit me. His songwriting was way way way ahead of its time. When I listen to his some of his early stuff like “The First Cut Is The Deepest” it shocks me to know he wrote that in the sixties. Tea For The Tillerman is an amazing record but I tend to gravitate more towards his follow up, Teaser And The Firecat. This is a cover of a song off of that record and if you like it, go listen to that whole album. It’s super good.
On a different note, I’ve been doing this silly blog for a few months now and a good amount of you have been gracious enough to become paid subscribers. Originally when I started this, I wanted to avoid having this thing resemble any sort of social media. But as a lot of you continue to subscribe and some even interact with posts, I realize that I should open this up a bit more for communication! Five bucks a month adds up and I recognize that. So tell me what you want from this page! You want more covers? Easy! I can do that on my phone! You want specific covers? Request them in the comments and I’ll try my best if I know the song! Old demos or stories, tell me what you want, man! I’ve gotten a couple of requests to figure out a way to allow paid subscribers to download the mp3 files that I post. I’m working on that right now and will do my best to figure it out! Maybe at the end of each month I can email a link with all of the files from that period, available for download. Kinda like a monthly album of covers and demos??
I’m traveling through Europe only for one more month so the travel posts will slow down a bit. What should I replace them with?? I don’t fucking know, and I’m open to suggestions.
For those of you who are free subscribers: Thank YOU! And just so there’s no confusion, the paywall on posts with songs and or voice recordings is there because those things take a fair amount of time and effort to make! The travel posts and poetry are more off the cuff and I don’t feel right in charging money for those. Everybody should be able to read my stupid thoughts on Europe! lol.
Point being, I appreciate ya’ll being here and let me know what I can do to make it worth your while. Tell your friends, share it on the internet, whatever.
love,
Mikey
